At The Baby Cloud, we often meet mums at a real crossroads.
They are returning to careers that once made sense, roles they may have loved and worked hard for, but that no longer fit with the reality of being a parent. The hours, the pressure, the constant feeling of being pulled in two directions. It becomes clear that something has to give, and for many, that something feels like time with their children.
Meet Lynsey, our Cardiff franchisee.
Lynsey has been with us from the very beginning, one of our founding franchisees, and over the past three years has built something incredibly special. With a permanent venue, a consistently growing community, and well over 100 babies supported through her classes, she has become a trusted and loved presence for parents in her area. Her energy in the room is something we see time and time again, calm, warm, and genuinely invested in every parent and baby who walks through her door.
Before The Baby Cloud, Lynsey was a secondary school teacher whilst raising her two boys. She cared deeply about her role, but like so many in education, it came with very little flexibility. Long hours, constant demands, and the reality of missing key moments in her children’s lives. Assemblies, sports days, everyday moments that matter. Over time, the feeling of what she was missing became harder to ignore.
She took the leap and we are so glad she did. We know it felt big for her, and like many of our franchisees, it came with uncertainty. But she trusted the brand, the process and the success she had seen for herself, and it completely changed her work-life balance. We are so proud!
Now a mum of three, doing things very differently since having her third baby, Emma, Lynsey has built a life that works around her family, not against it.
As she shares:
“There was a time when I believed teaching was the perfect career for me. It was stable, meaningful, and something I truly cared about. But like many roles in education, it came with a cost that slowly became impossible to ignore — long hours, constant pressure, and the feeling that no matter how much I gave, it was never quite enough.
But what I’ve gained since starting my own Baby Cloud business has been nothing short of life-changing — not just professionally, but personally, and most importantly, for my family.
The biggest difference is time — real, meaningful time.
I’m there every morning to take my children to school. I’m there every afternoon to pick them up, hear about their day, and be present in those small but important moments that used to slip by when I was tied to rigid school hours and endless after-school responsibilities. I no longer feel like I’m constantly rushing or splitting myself in two.
I can attend every assembly, every sports day, every concert. I don’t have to ask for permission or feel guilty for stepping away from work. I’m simply there — fully present — and that’s something I will never take for granted.
Running my own franchise with The Baby Cloud baby development classes has also given me the flexibility to build my work around my life, rather than the other way around. I choose my schedule. I decide how many classes I run and when. If my children need me, I can adjust. That level of control is something I never had before, and it has completely transformed my work-life balance.
And then there’s the work itself. I still get to teach. I still get to support development, encourage learning, and build relationships with my lovely parents — but now, it’s in a way that feels more aligned with my values and my lifestyle. Working with babies and their parents brings a different kind of joy. It’s calmer, more connected, and incredibly rewarding to see those early milestones unfold. I am the luckiest lady alive to have found the perfect job!”
Alongside this, Lynsey has created financial stability in a way that fits her life, even going on to buy her dream home through the business she has built.
For us, this is what The Baby Cloud is really about.
Not just classes, not just a business, but giving mums a way to step into something that works with their life as it is now, not how it used to be.
A way to still use their skills, still contribute financially, and still be present for the moments that matter most.
Lynsey often describes what she does as “a special, privileged job” , and from where we stand, we could not agree more.
Wow – Thank you Lynsey, so many insights into how all skills are transferable & you can get a more balance work/life structure. We are very proud of you here at The Baby Cloud!
